You will get there eventually, don’t try to be a superstar at the gym and impress friends. Just follow the program. Write down the amount that you need to accomplish for the next 16 weeks and the number of sets next to it.
Be sure not to drink the night before a workout and to have a protein shake ready after your work out. Blendfresh offers great plant based proteins to supplement muscle repair. Blendtec blenders weigh in at 6 to 8 pounds and all models are 15 inches tall with the lid attached. They are considered to be the most powerful blender on the market with motors ranging from 1560 watt, 13 amp, 3 peak horse power motor to 1725 watt, 3.8hp. The Jars come with a stainless steel 2 blade design which is dull which makes it easy to reach inside the jar and not cut your hands during cleaning and to scoop stuff from the jar. The jar is BPA Free and dishwasher safe and the powerful stainless steel blades create a vortex when the blender is running where everything gets sucked into the blade so you won’t need a tamper or stick to push things down(most of the time). The Blendtec blenders come with automatic buttons so you can push a button and walk away from the machine without having to worry about stopping it. There is a timer on the front of all blendtec models which counts down the seconds of the cycle. The Blendtec blenders offer many models to fit your needs as a consumer, but all their models, older or newer, will do the job. The best deal is with the refurbished models because you get the same warranty as a new model. Buying refurbished can save you a lot of money.
Vitamix base units weigh in at 13 pounds and the jars can be bought in different sizes to accommodate your kitchen. There is a 48oz jar which makes it so the blender fits under your cabinets easily, and a 64oz tall jar which makes the blender look very tall. The 48oz Vitamix jar is designed so that you can keep the jar and base unit together to be able to fit under your cabinets, the 64oz jar proves to be to tall for most cabinets so you have to keep the jar and base unit separate. The motor on the Vitamix models range from 11.5amps, 2 peak hp, 1380 watts to 2.2 peak horse power for it’s newer models. The Vitamix blade has 4 thin sharp fine stainless steel blades. The jar is BPA Free and made from polycarbonate but is not dishwasher friendly. Different Vitamix models have different settings; certain ones have automatic and manual settings where as some only have manual operations. The Vitamix blender pushes the ingredients up along the sides of the jar where they fall back down the middle and onto the sharp stainless steel blades. All Vitamix models, newer and older, can give you similar results, but the newer ones have some functions that you might like. The Best deals for Vitamix blenders are Refurbished Vitamix models. You’ll get the same warranty, cook book, and performance as a new model.
Blendtec vs Vitamix Pricing and models
The number one reason why you don’t buy this blender is the initial blow to your wallet, but it’s just a one time cost and then you have it. They both come with 5 to 8 year warranties and usually last for 20 years or so. These blenders range from upper $200 to almost $800 for some models. The older models and refurbished models are your best deals, but the newer lines are over $400 for both Blendtec and Vitamix companies. Here are your pricing options for both companies.

Blendtec and Vitamix blenders are the most powerful blenders you can buy. They make everything easy. The other day I blended a crust from almonds and dates for my vegan cheesecake in a Blendtec. I didn’t need the food processor at all, the Blendtec did a great job. You can use these machines as a mixer, juicer, ice cream maker, professional cooker, food processor, grain mill, coffee grinder, and many other things. You can replace almost all those appliances that are just sitting around taking up space in your cabinets. So how can they do all this stuff that regular blenders can’t do? Creating heat for soups, liquifying seeds, nuts and leafs for your smoothies, guaranteed durability, all combined sets the Blendtec and Vitamix apart from the rest of the competition. Because they are high powered commercial blenders which are specially designed with powerful motors and blades, regular blenders just don’t compare. These are the same blenders used at Starbucks, Jamba juice, Coffee Bean, Robeks’, Juice it up, and Whole Foods. By having one at home you would be able to produce the same consistency for you smoothies as the juice shops. Next time you go to a coffee bean, look at their blenders, you’ll notice that they use a square jar, those are the Blendtec Jars, if you go to a Jamba Juice, you’ll notice that they have three Vitamix blenders planted into their counter top. Nectar uses 3 older Vitamix 4500 models for all their acai bowls which cost around $8 each. Having the power of a Blendtec or Vitamix at home saves you time, money, and the headache of cleaning up appliances.
Functions and Presets
So what are all the things these blenders can actually do?
When you buy your first Vitamix or Blendtec you’ll be very excited but sometimes you might have trouble in figuring out all the different things that the machine does! Make sure to book mark this review because we are going over everything you are able to do in your Blendtec and Vitamix right now.
Blendtec Ice Cream vs Vitamix Ice Cream
Making Ice Cream in your Blendtec or Vitamix can be very healthy for your kids and your family because you are able to add green leafy vegetables and hide the taste. Making Ice Cream in your Blendtec or Vitamix only takes around 1 minute to blend. The most difficult part of making the ice cream is adding the ingredients into the jar the proper way so you don’t get an air pocket.
You make Ice cream for both Vitamix and Blendtec blenders the same way. First you add around half a cup to a full cup of liquid, juice, milk, etc, next you add any dry powders or proteins, then you add your softer fruits or veggies to the ice cream, that’s right sneak in green vegetables to your ice cream, no one will know that vegetables are in there and the kids will love it, after your done adding your softer ingredients add your hard fruits and veggies, then add your seeds and leafy greens, and last add your ice or frozen fruits. Yes!, Ice and frozen fruits are always the last things you add. Remember everything will get pulled into the blades with the Blendtec and liquified, and with the Vitamix you have the tamper to help push it all down.
So just to recap on that Ice Cream…
First add: Liquids and Powders
Second add: Soft fruits and Veggies
Third add: Hard Fruits and Veggies
Fourth add: Seeds and leafy greens
Fifth add: Ice or frozen fruits
Note: You need to add around 3 to 4 cups of ice or a lot of frozen fruit for that thick creamy texture, don’t add to much liquid or you’ll get a smoothie. Once the Ice Cream is ready you should see a nice swirl at the top of the jar. You can put it in tupperware and freeze it or serve it right out of the jar into little ice cream bowls, add some toppings to make it fancy.
Blendtec blender Ice Cream Functionality and Presets
Blendtec blender models come with a preset Ice Cream button that starts, speeds up, and stops on it’s own. This is nice because you don’t have to stand next to your blender and listen to it. On the down side to the Blendtec Ice Cream, sometimes you can get an air pocket at the bottom where it’s spinning but nothing is getting pulled down. In case this happens stop the blender and shake out the jar and restart the cycle. It might take a couple shakes sometimes before you get it. The Blendtec is designed to pull it’s ingredients into the blades and usually does.
Vitamix blender Ice Cream Functionality and presets
Vitamix models come with a preset timed Ice Cream preset. It runs for 60 seconds and shuts off. When you see the swirl shape form it’s ready. The nice thing the Vitamix offers that the Blendtec doesn’t is a tamper. A tamper is a stick designed specifically for the Vitamix blender jar so that you can press ingredients into the blades as the blender is spinning. This comes in handy with thicker recipes like ice creams. Certain older Vitamix models don’t have the Ice Cream preset setting, in that case get it up to a high speed and use the tamper until you see the swirl form at the top.
Blendtec Juicing vs Vitamix juicing
Which blender can liquifying seeds, nuts, leafy greens, and hard fruits better? The answer is…!!! Both are for the most part EQUAL in liquifying your juices and smoothies, you’ll get almost the same TEXTURE with both blenders. The main difference is which blender you like to use more which is obviously why you are reading this post. Juicing with a Vitamix or Blendtec blender is recommended over a juicer because you get 100% of all the fiber in the jar. You can liquify nuts, seeds, and leafy greens in seconds and not lose any fiber. Juicers extract your pulp and you throw away around 70% of the nutrition.
Similar to the Ice Cream recipe you’ll want to add the softer ingredients first when making juices and smoothies. Liquids, then softer fruits and veggies, then harder fruits and veggies, then seeds, nuts, and leafy greens, finally your frozen fruits and your ice. Nutritionists recommend these two blenders for many reasons, but the biggest reason is for it’s ability to liquify everything in the jar. It’s very very very healthy to have a smoothie or juice with flax seeds, almonds, spinach leaves, etc… especially in the morning to start your day. You’ll notice more energy and overtime a healthier you!
Adding ingredients for your Juice or smoothie
First add: Liquids and powders
Second add: Softer fruits and veggies
Third add: Harder fruits and veggies
Fourth add: Seeds, nuts, and leafy greens
Fifth add: Ice and Frozen fruits
Note: The amount of frozen fruit and Ice you add will determine the consistency of the juice. The more hard frozen ingredients the thicker it will be. Sometimes you’ll need to add more liquids to justify the amount of frozen fruits or ice you put into the jar. If it’s coming out really thick keep running the blender on a high speed. The longer you run it, the thinner the juice or smoothie will get. To make thicker add more ice.
Blendtec Juice Smoothie Functionality and Presets
Different Blendtec models have different presets for juicing and smoothies, but almost all of them have a automatic button for it. The smoothie button runs for around 40 seconds depending on the model type and the Juice Button runs for around 50 seconds. Both buttons are specially customized for this blend cycle and start, change speeds, and stop on their own. You don’t have to stand next to the blender and watch it. Simply push the button and walk away.
Note: Don’t overfill the blender jar and you won’t have to hold the lid. Fill it only three quarters of the way up and you won’t have to worry about the lid flying off. Remember the Blendtec sucks everything into the blades.
Other preset buttons the Blendtec comes with are:
Vitamix Juice Smoothie Functionality and Presets
Vitamix has a variety of old and new models all with different settings. The newer Models such as the Vitamix 6300, the Vitamix 750, the Vitamix 500 all have automatic settings where you can turn the knob and leave it. The older Vitamix models such as the Vitamix 5200 and the Vitamix 4500 have only manual controls so you will have to manually start it and manually stop it. The newer automatic settings prove to save you the trouble of having to stand next to the blender and stop it.
Note: The Vitamix lid is very secure and you can fill the Vitamix jar all the way to the rim and not worry about it flying off. Also, all Vitamix jars come with a tamper (A specially designed stick to push down ingredients). The tamper can be used for any blend and is great if you overfill your jar because you can press everything into the blades.
Other Vitamix automatic presets are:
Blendtec Hot Soup vs Vitamix Hot Soup
Blendtec blenders make soup in around 3 to 4 minutes and Vitamix blenders make soup in around 6 to 8 minutes. The reason the Blendtec blender makes soups faster is because of it’s more powerful motor and thick dull blades. Soup recipes require cooking heat such as a gas stove or oven burners. Blendtec and Vitamix blenders use a natural form of heat caused by the blades. The Vitamix blade can reach an RPM of 36,000 and the Blendtec blade can reach an RPM of 28,000 when ran on the highest speed. With this amount of friction being formulated in a small confined space you get a large amount of heat which comes up from the blades. This is called friction. The friction caused from the blades spinning at high speeds can be used to cook soup and also make other fantastic recipes such as syrups and fondues.
Note: If you run these blenders on their highest speeds for long periods of time, they will heat up anything you have in the jar: Flour, Juice, etc… When heat reaches over 120 degrees you start to lose the nutrition in the raw foods.
Different recipes call for different blends, there are a variety of soups that can be made in your Vitamix or Blendtec blender. Raw soups, creamy soups, vegetable soups. For simple soup recipes just add water, some vegetables, and some seasonings. Let the blender run on it’s highest speed until you see steam coming out from the lid of the jar. The longer you run it the hotter it will get.
Blendtec Soup functionality and Presets
Blendtec models come with a soup button which is specifically designed to make your soup hot. You can simply add the ingredients, secure the lid, push the button and walk away. The soup cycle runs for 90 seconds and shuts itself off. Depending the the temperature of the water you start with will determine how long it takes for the blender blades to heat the soup. I’ve noticed that every time you push the soup button it usually heats up 20 degrees to 30 degrees hotter every time. So you can push it once and then if you want it hotter, push it again. The longer you run it the hotter it will get. The preset soup button goes the highest blender speed the entire time which heats the soup, usually taking around 2 to 3 pushes of the button which is around 3 to 4 minutes for a nice hot soup.
Note: You can also use the Soup button to really liquify your smoothie or juice but just add more ice so it won’t get hot. The soup button is the most powerful cycle the Blendtec comes with. Also, remember that by heating up your soup you are killing the live enzymes in the vegetables. Check out RAW Soup recipes.
Vitamix Soup functionality and Presets
Turn the knob to the soup setting and let it run, it will stop on it’s own. Very nice if you have a model with the Automatic soup setting, but what if you have an older Vitamix. For older Vitamix models that don’t have the soup setting preset, you’ll need to get your blender running on Speed 10/High, or the blenders highest possible speed. Let the machine run for around 6 to 8 minutes. The best thing to do is turn it on and set a timer, just come back and check on it. You will see the steam coming out from the lid after around 6 minutes.
Note: To make a soup chunky you can add ingredients in at the end of the soup cycle, take off the lid and place your cooked chicken, chips, beans, corn, or whatever you want in there, and then use the pulse button to make your soup. Chop in the ingredients to make the soup chunky by using the pulse key, or with a Vitamix you can flip the on/off switch for the older models.
Blendtec Grain Mill vs Vitamix Grain Mill
Not only can these blenders act as an Ice Cream Maker, Juicer, and soup maker but you can dry the jar out and use the powerful blades to grind your grains such as flours, oats, and barley. One appliance for everything.
Vitamix and Blendtec both grind grains in their BPA Free jars. Blendtec promotes to use their same jar for Hot, Dry, Wet, and Cold blending, where as the Vitamix company advises to buy their “Speical Dry Goods Jar”, for dry grinding. We’ll I’ve done the research on this and you can get the same texture from the Vitamix Standard jar that you can get from the Vitamix Special Dry goods jar. The only problem is that the jar gets scratched up from all the grains so it does’t look as pretty. This goes the same for Blendtec Jars. They are both made from the same Co Polyester material so they both scratch the same. For this reason, I recommend to get a second jar grinding grains.
There are a variety of things to be ground up when it comes to baking for example: Grinding Rice Flour, Grinding Powdered Sugar, Grinding Popcorn Kernals, Grinding Flaxseeds, Grinding Barley, Grinding Oats… For this example I will use Rice. Rice turns into Rice Flour which you can use for your cookies and baking needs. It is gluten-free, and there are no additives or preservatives. Flours are one of the worst things you can buy off the shelves because of all the additives and preservatives they put in there. Making it fresh in your Blendtec or Vitamix blender is a far more healthier solution. Minimum you want to cover the blades of the jar when grinding so anywhere from 1/2 a cup to start with all the way to around 4 cups can be ground up at one time. Make sure the jar is completely dry and the lid is secure, then take the blender all the way to speed 10 and let it run for 50 seconds. If you want it finer run it longer on the highest speed. The longer you run it the finer it will become.
You are what you eat! That’s a quote my dad has been telling me all my life. He said “there’s nothing more important than your health son”; hence, health is wealth. What you put into your body will determine how your body runs, produces, and how your organs evolve. I met a man at a Costco ware house by the blender guy that told me “Listen, eventually all that garbage that you eat will catch up to you, it might not happen till your 50 or 60, but eventually something will happen to you like a cancer or bad illness because you haven’t been giving your body the right nutrients to fight off unhealthy toxins.”
You have to be careful what is marketed to you, sometimes even the big companies that you trust won’t tell you the whole truth. For example research has found that companies such as Myoplex, Muscle Milk, Designer Whey and GNC brands contained arsenic, cadmium, and lead in there protein powder mix. How bazaar that these popular brand name companies would do this to there consumers without telling them. Could it be just like High Fructose Corn Syrups, where big businesses are just trying to save money and not look out for the consumer. PROBABLY.
For me there is One protein powder that is for sure plant based, Vegan friendly, GMO Free and doesn’t have all those nasty chemicals and pesticides. This is Blend Fresh’s new line of Protein Powder. BlendFresh is a company is association with Blendtec, which sells high end blenders to their consumers. They have developed a fresh dried line of healthy proteins and supplements which include Fruit and Veggie Powders, Pre and Probiotic packs, and Seed and Sprout fibers. Blend Fresh offers a great variety for pre and post work out supplements which you can simply blend in with smoothies and shakes or take straight with water. Similar to Freeze Dried proteins, fresh dried supplies your body with a large amount of nutrients. It’s a powerful dose of daily nutrition to add into your smoothie or juice.
BlendFresh Plant Based Protein vs Whey Protein
Protein is essential for your body to survive and grow. The amino acids found in proteins are necessary for performance and development, weight management, good metabolism, muscle repair, muscle growth, and even a strong immune system. You have the choice of two types of proteins which you can put into your body: Animal proteins (Casein, Whey and egg, Red Meat), or Plant based Proteins (Tree nuts, Rice, Sacha, Pea, Inchi, Potato, Hemp). The reason I like Plant based proteins over Whey for one is your liver doesn’t have to work as hard to break down hard amino acids. Plants are easier to digest for your body and proves to give you quicker recovery time. Another reason is healthier fats are found from plants rather than that from a cow, your body will store healthier fats into it’s system rather than by products that’s produced from cows.
What is Whey Protein?
Whey protein is a by-product of the cheese manufacturing process and is the liquid that is left behind after milk is curdled and strained. The amino acids found in whey are harder to digest for your liver and has far more side effects than Blend Fresh Plant Based proteins. Lactose intolerance is one common side effect that derives from to many whey supplements. Since it’s origin is from a cow, Whey proteins have allergens that affect the immune system where people who don’t have a strong digestive or immune system can succumb to not feeling good after taking it. A few of the common symptoms are abdominal pain, gas, bloating and diarrhea. Over-consumption of Whey proteins leads to increased acidity and lowered pH of the blood, studies show that this can increase the chances of various kidney disorders.
What is Blend Fresh Plant Based Protein?
Blendfresh plant based fresh dried powders pack an intense amount of nutrients in every scoop. They consist of ground up combinations of specific organic fruits and veggies, organic seeds and sprouts, and organic pre and pro biotics which give you powerful antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and nutrients. They are packed with flavor and nutrition because they are fresh dried, which means the powder retains more of the live enzymes that are usually lost with most other plant based proteins. A big plus to plant based over whey is plant based proteins are easier to digest without any side effects which are associated with whey. The Blendfresh powders are Non-GMO Verified, which means no added hormones, vegan friendly, and completely organic with an abundance of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and fiber – which are all critical components for optimal health. Blended combinations of plants provide a full spectrum of amino acids and is alkaline forming inside the body and since Blendfresh is fresh dried you get a heavy dose of nutrient dense healthy protein into your system just by adding 1 scoop of powder into your smoothie.
